International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia
It’s the number one fantasy film festival in the world and represents, at the same time, the cultural expression with the most media impact in Catalonia. With a solid experience, the Sitges Festival is a stimulating universe of encounters, exhibitions, presentations and screenings of fantasy films from all over the world.
Born in 1968 as the 1st International Week of Fantasy and Horror Movies, today the Festival is an essential rendezvous for movie lovers and audiences eager to come into contact with new tendencies and technologies applied to film and the audiovisual world.
The Sitges Official Fantàstic Selection brings together the best selection of fantastic and horror genre films, based on a free and broad vision of genre and intended to highlight the most important trends of the year. This selection is accompanied by Òrbita, a sample of films closely related to the fantastic genre, like action and adventure movies or black comedy, and that’s aimed at placing special emphasis on thrillers.

For its closing, the Festival will be screening the European première of ‘The Limehouse Golem’, directed by Juan Carlos Medina The most eagerly awaited American horror cinema will be coming to the Official Selection with ‘Blair Witch’, by Adam Wingard. The 49th Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia has now put together its complete lineup. A comprehensive, courageous look at fantasy made up of more than 200 titles, including this year’s most ground-breaking proposals. Besides continuing to add new titles to the Official and Noves Visions sections, the rest of the sections now have their turn also, completing the Festival’s final lineup.
