From the 19th until the 26th of August Sitges will be filled with colourful decorations, fireworks and music everywhere. It’s during this kind of festivities that you get to know the real Spanish culture. The reason life in Spain is lived is on the streets, terraces and gardens.
On August 24 locals from Sitges celebrate the festival in honor of Saint Bartholomew, and on September 23rd they party again in honor of Santa Tecla. They are both, the most important festivals of Sitges. And the reality of their proximity in the calendar causes that the city lives and, indeed, organize one-period of “Festa Major” that integrates the two celebrations.
The organization of the Festival of Sitges is carried out by the Municipal Commission of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, acting by the delegation of the City Council of the city. The Commission works in coordination with the Department of Traditions and Festivals, the parish church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, participants of the city and all organizations and associations of various events co-organizers of the Festival.
